While the orange crates are being filled with books and other teaching materials, a teacher like Mrs. Lawson can’t pack a beautiful and personal mural like the one she has in her classroom. Even though it was added just a few years ago, it’s become a daily reminder to students in Mrs. Lawson’s classes to find their own light every time they walk in. And she’s not the only one. Across the building teachers are saying goodbye to pieces of their classrooms that may not be able to move with them, but still carry meaning. Our Evelyn Cahill took a closer look into what teachers are leaving behind, and the challenges they face in starting over in a new school.
