Mr. Mark Lowrie is the 2024 Ohio Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the 2025 Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence from the National Education Association Foundation. Mr. Lowrie teaches all of the broadcast journalism courses at Gahanna Lincoln High School including Advanced Broadcast Journalism III, Broadcast Journalism II (Lincoln Live), Sports Broadcasting, Film and Documentary Production, and Intro to Broadcast Journalism.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored Lowrie’s students with nine National Student Production Awards (SPA), also known as the student Emmys, and 90 regional SPAs. Lowrie’s students led the nation with three National SPAs in 2022, including Best Newscast and earned the National Scholastic Press Association Pacemaker Award (top four broadcast programs nationally).
Mr. Lowrie earned a Bachelor of Science in communication from Ohio University before spending 12 years working professionally in the TV industry. He then obtained a Master of Arts in education at the University of Akron and his Integrated Language Arts license. He also earned a Master of Arts in School Leadership from Concordia University (Chicago) and a professional principal license (Grades 5-12).
